Guwahati, 16th Feb (northeastnews): Assam which is way below national and WHO standards of doctors per thousand of population hopes to meet the shortage by 2022 by increasing the number of seats and setting up four more new medical colleges in the districts of Dhubri, Nagaon, North Lakhimpur and Diphu as part of national plan to have 52 new medical colleges, informed Union Minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey here today.

Guwahati, 13th Feb (northeastnews): Ramdas Athawale Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment informed that Assam has a massive backlog of 11852 vacancies which includes 2930 in Scheduled Cast category and 8922 vacancies exist for Scheduled Tribes even after they managed to fill up 1744 vacancies for both categories during last one year after a special drive was launched for the same.
