GOVERNMENT WORKING TO EMPOWER ALL COMMUNITIES: SONOWAL

Kokrajhar, 10th Feb (northeastnews): Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while appreciating the BTC leadership and the Bodo community for heralding peace in the BTAD areas through harmonious and peaceful co-existence said that the Government of Assam is working to empower all communities to make them equal partners in the development narrative of the state, while taking part in the 16th Bodoland Day celebration at Bodofa Nwgwr here today,.
“The best quality of the Bodos is their disciplined, hardworking and courageous nature and these positive traits are immensely helping in their growth and the Bodo community will have to play an important role in taking Assam forward”, Sonowal said.
Stating that peaceful environment leads to all round development in BTAD, the Chief Minister assured the BTC administration to extend support in all its endeavours for growth in the region. “Peace in BTC is a result of united effort and this is one of the greatest catalysts in ushering development in BTAD. The state Government would support the BTC administration in their development initiatives”, Sonowal said. He also called on all the communities of the state to stay united and foster brotherhood, harmony and peaceful co-existence.
Further saying that the state government is very serious in empowering all the communities to realize their fullest potential and ensuring equal development for all, the Chief Minister informed that the Assam Government is giving a renewed push in business relations with the Bhutan Government, which would ultimately lead to rapid growth in the BTAD areas. Sonowal also said that steps are afoot to build an international highway covering 264 KM along the border areas of Assam connecting BTAD with Bhutan. This developmental move has already received in-principal approval of the central government and would formally take off soon after clearance from the Environment & Forest Ministry, he said.
Stating that parents and teachers have a great role to play in moulding the young generation to be upright and skilful, he informed that the state government accords top priority in providing a bright and secure future to them. “We have recently organized the Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit with an aim to explore our hitherto unexplored potentiality and catapulting growth in the region through adequate investment. This will open new job opportunities for our youth. We want to engage more meaningfully with the ASEAN and BBN countries.”, Sonowal asserted.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary while delivering his speech said that unequivocal support received from all sections of people of the BTAD has resulted in rapid development in the region. Highlighting its various initiatives, Mohilary informed that the BTC administration would soon take scores of measures for all round development of the Bodo people living all across the state.
The BTC administration would build offices of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, All Bodo Women Federation and All Bodo Students Association in the district outside the jurisdiction of BTAD and also would open one institution each in all the four districts of the BTAD to provide opportunities for learning Assamese language to Bodo people. The institute would also impart classes on Bodo language also for the benefit of non-Bodo people, he informed alongwith various other initiatives mooted for development.
Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Environment & Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, MP Biswajit Daimary, BTC Deputy Chief Khampa Borgoyari also delivered speech on the Bodoland Day celebration.
PHED Minister Rihon Daimary, several MLAs, Executive Members of BTC, President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha Taren Bodo and host of other dignitaries were also present in the programme.
